Not Quite Cut Out For This...

I'm really pretty terrible at keeping up with this whole blog thing...I'm not going to quit or anything of course so don't fret, but apparentally I just need someone to constantly be pushing me to work on this and also just reminding me that I do in fact have a blog or else I'll keep being a lazy bum and never do anything ever again- sad, I know. But here I am! Posting again! I've had these pictures laying around for about a month now, kinda kept putting it off, but since I don't actually have anything to do this summer I may as well be more responsible with this old thing. These are from when I went to this fantastic antique shop in Paris (*sigh* Kentucky...) the same place where I discovered my wonderful prom dress.

Seriously awesome military jacket

This shirt is very basically my life philosophy:)

ostrich feathers!

I have a weird love of vintage hat boxes...
So that was my adventure that happened about a month ago. I had on high waisted shorts and my favourite t-shirt from ModCloth. I swear this time, I will be better about posting! And this is for Corinne, one of the most fantastic friends a girl could ask for, and who is always pestering me about posting to this thing for which I am extremely thankful:)

Told you I wouldn't forget;)

Summer Inspirations...

Oh I've been bad...very very bad... I haven't posted in ages, what a despicable blogger I have become! I'll make it a higher priority from now on, I promise! Well today I'll just be sharing some things that I've been getting the most inpiration from lately, which should be a delightfully eclectic mix of extraordinarily random and bizarre things (not even I really understand why my mind works the way it does :/ ) but this will hopefully be interesting or entertaining at the very least.

The lovely Flo, always an inspiration as a fellow ginger;)

New artist/designer Justin Wallis with his whimsical anime-esque brand MILKBBI and I am in love!

Ahhh how I miss Rapture...

The reason I've been wearing pearls so often recently

What my bedroom should look like by the end of the summer (minus the "angel") if all goes as planned

Mr. Bubbles... c:

From 'Angels and Demons' the posthumous collection from McQueen, the gilded feathers and dramatic silhouettes remind me of Rapture (like a lot of things seem to do)

The fantastic Lara Pulver as Irene Adler in BBC's Sherlock(another love of mine)
Taken from Nikki Sixx's photography book This Is Gonna Hurt, and it's my favourite piece in the whole collection

More from 'Angels and Demons'...don't blink...

My Scottish twin, Karen Gillian aka Amy Pond:)

So there, a random assortment of images that have been inspiring me lately. Hope you all enjoy it dearies!
And there shall be more shortly! I mean it this time...

Prom?

Well this Saturday was going to be my first prom, and I do always love an excuse to get dressed up fancy and put loads of effort into my hair and makeup(well maybe not LOADS but still). What the rainy evening became however was a gay rights protest, for two of my dearest friends who were denied entry to the dance, on the sidewalks of the school which in my opinion was much more enjoyable than actually attending the dance, and was time well spent. The fact that we didn't go into the prom was no reason not to look like a million bucks though! I wore my 1940s evening gown that I discovered at a vintage shop in Paris (KY:/ ) with some gorgeous black satin peeptoe heels. I did my hair in Rita Hayworth-esque waves to go along with the era of the dress, and did my makeup Clara Bow style.

I absolutely had to have a picture of these shoes:)
That evening was a wonderful experience, and not just because I got to wear my fantastic dress. I'm just so glad to have gotten an opportunity to show my support for my friends and that so many other people were supporting them as well. My first prom and first protest all in one night! A surprisingly eventful weekend for me...

Bored, bored, bored...

Oh how I wish something exciting would happen. Or even just to live somewhere that had interesting things to do and interesting places to visit near by. But no. I live here, and the most I can do to entertain myself is dress up in pretty clothes. Oh and read. I do that too. So this weekend I donned my canary yellow knit minidress, neon pink flats, and huge hoop earrings with a sort of sixties flair in an effort to combat the dreary weather of Saturday.

Reading...cause it's really one of the only things to do...

Surprise! It's the freeloading Friday!

So that was about all. Very uneventful weekend for me (as always) but I hope that your's had more substance! Farewell then darlings!

Dog Days...

I have a puppy! Oh it's so exciting! His name is Renji ( Bleach inspired) and he is a wonderful little mutt. It was fairly warm out today and not actively raining so I took him outside for a while

Here he is, my precious puppy:)
It was another one of those days where I dressed up nice just to have something to do, and I wore a red and white floral sundress with a vintage pendant necklace, a jeweled skull ring (that reminds me of McQueen) and I put my hair up in a messy, somewhat romantic side-chignon.

With my Renji:)

So the puppy has pretty much been my weekend, but I love him:) That's all for now lovelies!

Outfit 911

I recently read the Marie Claire Outfit 911 by Joyce Corrigan, and it is fabulous! It addresses just about every fashion situation imaginable and what you should (and should not) wear. From cocktail parties to job interviews to a weekend in the country this book has the answers to every fashion conundrum, and includes interviews with renowned fashion gurus like Donna Karan, Vera Wang, Tim Gunn, and most importantly Sarah Burton, McQueen's long time best friend and now the Creative Director for the McQueen fashion house. This is a must read, very helpful if you're ever in doubt of what to wear!

Lovely book cover:)

The one, the only, Sarah Burton!
So that's all for now! Farewell duckies!

Dull, dull weekends...

I've been lazy and haven't posted til now, oops... There's never anything to do here so a lot of the time I end up dressing like I have somewhere exciting to be just to keep myself from going crazy, and Saturday was one of those times. The color of the overcast sky was absolutely lovely so it was a great time to take pictures, and I wore a vintage tea-length short sleeved belted dress with my favourite orange strappy wedges and pearls.

These shoes are amazing but were NOT made for walking around outside!

As another means of entertaining myself I styled my hair in 1940s waves and did my makeup in a more 30s style (think Marlene Dietrich). More on my reecent vintage makeup obsession later, that's all for now darlings!
